Carice is globally mostly known as ‘Melisandre’ in the iconic TV show GAME OF THRONES, a performance for which she received an Emmy Award nomination in 2019. Other projects include Paul Verhoeven’s award-winning BLACK BOOK, for which she won her 3rd Golden Calf Award and Bryan Singer’s VALKYRIE opposite TOM CRUISE. Recent projects include Man Up productions INSTINCT and RED LIGHT. Most recently she shot two seasons of TEMPLE, a new show for Sky opposite Mark Strong, which will be airing 2021. 

Her Dutch-language feature LOVE LIFE, gained her critical acclaim and broke box office records in her native Holland. Her next film HAPPY HOUSEWIVE won her a record-breaking 5TH GOLDEN CALF at The Netherlands Film Festival and she was voted ‘BEST DUTCH ACTRESS OF ALLTIME’ by the Dutch audience. Other awards include BEST ACTRESS for BLACK BUTTERFLIES at the Tribeca Film Festival and most recently the BEST PERFORMANCE AWARD for INSTINCT at the Les Arcs Film Festival, and her 7th Golden Calf nomination for Best Actress. 

Other credits include Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s INTRUDERS and Bill Condon’s THE FIFTH ESTATE, the Jesse Owens biopic, RACE, with Jason with Jason Sudeikis and Jeremy Irons, and the voice of a character THE SIMPSONS. She can also be seen in BRIMSTONE, opposite Dakota Fanning, Guy Pearce and Kit Harrington, and THE GLASS ROOM, with Claes Bang.

Halina is an acclaimed director, actress, author and producer. Her critically acclaimed directorial feature debut INSTINCT (2019), starring Carice van Houten (GAME OF THRONES) and Marwan Kenzari (ALADDIN) has been selected for film festivals in Locarno (winner Variety Piazza Grande Award and special mention First Feature Competition), Toronto (world cinema competition), BFI London (Sutherland competition), Ghent, Chicago and Les Arcs (winner Young Audience Award and Cineuropa Award) and was the Dutch Oscar submission. The film also recently received a nomination for best debut film for The European Film Awards 2020 (European Discovery PRIX FIPRESCI). She conceived and created the Man Up series Red Light, also co-authored and starred in one of the lead roles for which she received a Golden Calf in 2020. 

Halina is also a successful film and theatre actress. She has worked with internationally acclaimed director Ivo van Hove at Internationaal Theater Amsterdam for much of her career and has performed his plays all over the world. She has won numerous awards for her work on stage and in film. She played in the Oscar-nominated film ZUS & ZO, in Paul Verhoeven's much-praised BLACKBOOK and in Bryan Singer's VALKYRIE, opposite Tom Cruise. She can also be seen in the Swedish series CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE, directed by Charlotte Brändström.

 In addition, Halina wrote the books Prinsesje Nooitgenoeg (2005), Doen alsof ik iemand anders ben (2009), Antiglamour (together with Carice van Houten, 2013) and Loos (2016). She also wrote columns for Dutch and Belgian magazines and newspapers.
